Abstract

This article focuses on Carlos Drummond de Andrade’s poetry,
specifically on how his poetic creates a net of connections between
hands, heart, and world. This study analyses how the concept of excess
is manifested throughout the different stages of his poetic creation in
relation to self and world. In a first close reading, the poem “Sentimento
do mundo” is studied in connection with the poem “Coração habitado”
by Eugénio de Andrade. At the end of this article, we examine the idea
of “Canto esponjoso” and its reflection on poetry and perception.
