In this paper we share some reflections as additional-language teacher trainers regarding mediation. Recently implemented in language teaching, mediation has a multifaceted nature and a heavy reliance on the other modes of communication, so it calls for teacher education actions that go beyond the mere training in pedagogical strategies and skills, but rather focus on providing a thorough knowledge regarding (1) its specificity as a separated mode of communication, (2) its links with construction of meaning and action-oriented approaches, and (3) its integrative nature as a combination of activities, strategies and skills. We outline some strategies and artefacts to meet such educational needs by means of reflection and analysis processes which promote an informed approach to the construct of mediation.
