Due to the adversities of the present, the humanists (teachers and
researchers from the Humanities ‘area) seek refuge in the illusion of a
golden age. The truth is, though, that it is not possible to identify one era
in which the humanistic has flourished without distrust nor severe
scrutiny. Although admitting that the “external” legitimation is an
important challenge to any area, we understand that we mustn’t run out
of energy during the war of cultures that has been putting the Humanities
against the other areas of knowledge for at least one and a half
