Abstract

In this paper, we present the dates of publication of the first ten
translations of Jules Verne's Extraordinary Voyages in Portugal.
The main instrument of the research carried out was the Diario
Illustrado, a digitised newspaper from the Biblioteca Nacional de
Portugal, published in Lisbon between June 1872 and January 1911.
After a careful examination of the catalogues of the Brazilian, Spanish,
French and Portuguese national libraries, a thorough review of studies
on the subject and, above all, an analysis of numerous digitised
newspapers of the period, the information obtained has enabled us, for
the first time, to certify the date of publication of the translations,
regardless of the format or medium used.
